This must surely be the ultimate millennial gadget…
Having a smartphone within arm’s reach is part and parcel of most people’s daily lives nowadays. We use our phones to do pretty much everything; keeping in contact with people, shopping, entertainment, taking pictures, organising our schedules, waking us up in the morning… the list goes on. So it makes perfect sense that our phones should have a more integral role in the big moments in our lives, like… marriage proposals?
A company called Rokshok appear to think so, because they’ve found a way to combine marriage proposals with… phone cases. Yes, really! The ‘world’s first engagement ring phone case’, as they call it, has a hatch at the back that the proposer can hide an engagement ring in. Press a button at the top, the hatch opens, and the ring is revealed.
So when you get down on one knee, you can point your phone at your loved one’s face and start recording a video. Then you can pop the question and have his or her reaction captured on film (or in your phone’s memory) forever! We have to admit it’s a clever – although maybe unnecessary- idea.
The phone cover is designed to be as slim as a standard, non-engagement ring design so that it easily fits in your pocket. It’s also designed so that the ring is in the camera shot when it’s revealed – so you won’t just have a video of your new fiance looking surprised with no explanation. And for those social media addicts, you can upload your proposal with one click for all the world to see.
The Rokshok phone case can hold a ring up to 2.5 carats in size, depending on the particular cut. It retails for $59.95 and is available for pre-order from rokshok.com, if you’re so inclined.
